Japan Trip 2009 - Day 4 - Part 1

Day 4, we took a day trip to Aomori-shi (Aomori City) 青森市. Aomori City is the biggest city in Aomori Prefecture. At the time we visited Aomori Prefecture, Aomori City was not yet the terminus of bullet train. Hachinohe 八戸 was the terminus. That is the reason why we picked Hachinohe as the focal point in Aomori Prefecture. This day 4, we got so much visiting sites to visit. Thus, it was quite a rushing day. First, we got up early and took an express train, Super Hakucho 超級白鳥號, to Aomori City. It took us an hour to reach there. We made Aomori station as the origin for all our visits. Checked from the bus schedule, it was not yet the time for the bus to take us to the first visiting place. Thus, we walked around the city.
We found the landmark building after a while. It is a high triangle building which is easy to spot. We went up the building to have a whole view of the city. It is acted as a visiting tower of the city actually, but you have to pay for this high view of the city. As the city is located near the sea, the view is magnificent. With good weather, blue sky, white clouds, the scene was just so gorgeous. The first visiting site we went was Aomori Shizen Koen Nebuta no Sato 青森自然公園睡魔之里. We got on a bus from the train station. It took us about 45 minutes. It was a park with lots of hand made lanterns, and they are huge. Those huge lanterns are made for a celebration which would be held once a year. But would only be happened in August something. Those lanterns would be moved by men and parade around the city.
For the rest of the time in the year, those lanterns would be stored inside a huge warehouse. Still, they would be lighting up for visitors. Besides the lanterns warehouse, we walked around the parks for a while. The park was not very large, but at that time, it was started raining. Thus we spent not much time there and headed back to the train station. We needed to take another bus to our next visiting site.
