Japan Trip 2009 - Day 2 - Part 2

Got on the train on the same route (仙石線), headed to Ishinomagi-shi 石卷. It is named as the city of Shotaro Ishinomori 石ノ森 章太郎. He is a very famous comic author. The most famous series is the stories of Kamen Rider (假面騎士). Our destination was Mangaffan museum 石ノ森萬画館, where shows all comics related products and information from the author.
All the trains to this city are decorated with familiarized comic characters. This made us so excited while stepping into the car. It took us about 50 minutes to the city. The station is also decorated with lots of comics characters, in statue forms and wall paper pictures. Really nice. There was also a receptionist dressed into Cyborg 009 (
人造人009) uniform. Distributing leaflets to passengers when they got off the train. We got out of the station and followed the direction that the leaflet indicated, walked to the museum. We walked through the city to our destination. On the way to the museum, we found that there are so many comics characters decorations. From sewage covers to letter boxes. Along the route to the museum, there are several statues in man's size. They are made nicely. We also found that the city was so quiet. No much people. Most of the shops were closed. Maybe it was not working day. But it was unexpectedly quiet, but still comfortable.Walked about 15-25 minutes, we reached the museum. It is located at the river side. It looks like a spaceship. A real Sci-fiction feel. So cool. That day, the museum was holding an exhibition of Cyborg 009. However, camera shooting is not allowed inside the museum. I remember that, the exhibition, showed so much masterpieces drawing of that comics. Also, the story introduction, comics, animation and some merchandising products in the past decades.
Besides that exhibition, there is another default exhibition hall which displays all famous series of comics, including Kamen Riders. But, to be honest, there are not much interesting stuff that really attractive. But, if you are a real die-hard Kamen Riders fans, you must take a visit there. For me, not a real big fans, feel a bit disappointed for the stuff inside the museum. There is an area for you to choose souvenir near the entrance of the museum. You can buy some when leaving. And, there is a real interesting clock alarm outside the museum. Don't miss it. When the clock goes to 60 minutes, alarm would sound and a series of comics characters will descend with a white dragon. Very worth to stop for several minutes to watch the whole process.
After that, we walked around the river side and enjoyed the tranquility of the city. Not very long, it was near sunset. We walked back to the train station and took JR train back to Sendai. Had dinner in another small restaurant. Tried the famous ox tongue, also tail. You know what, if you did not try ox tongue, you cannot tell others that you have been to Sendai. Ox tongue is a real famous dish in Sendai. Must try. It is real delicious. I am still missing it so much.
