The third day was a day trip to Siena. It is a city at mountain side. The only way to there is via driving track. In the morning, we went to a bus terminus, which is near train station of Florence. There are many different routes to different towns and cities, and one of them is to Siena.
It took more than an hour to Siena. The day was with good weather, sun shine, clouds, just....fantastic! Siena is a beautiful and popular place for visitors. And if you want to know the history of Holy Roman Empire, this is a good place for investigating the origin of it.
Gotten down the bus, we had to walk quite a while to the center of this city. The most popular place for visitors is in there. You know what, this little city was so crowded. Everyone walking in the same direction to the center of the city. I would say, much more crowded than walking in Mongkok (if you've been Hong Kong for some time, you should know). Along the path, some artists pretended to be a statue, some were doing other performing arts. Interesting.
So, what is at the center of the city? It is Museo Civico. It is a landmark there. It is also a museum to see some history of Italy. The tower is huge. We could go up the museum and have an overview of the mountain side.
The view is so nice. I can imagine how painters at that old time could make those magnificent masterpieces. But, the scene was quite hazy. To make beautiful paintings, you may need more imaginations and sense of colors.
Leaving the museum, we went to another area with cathedral and bell tower. The cathedral is very beautiful. It is huge as usual. But those decorations and paintings inside are really good. It is in a different style as that in Pisa. Here, consists many historical things. I think they are much older than that in Pisa. A quite different feeling you could get.
There is a baptistery and bell tower nearby. In fact, you could get a round ticket to visit all these places. It's like a theme park ticket that you could play in different sections. Anyway, very convenient. And still, everywhere were full of visitors. I was wondering how would the local residents feel.
After visiting all the places indicated on the tickets, we hanged around the city to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, though there were lots of people around. Still, you could seek for your own peaceful environment and enjoy it. Just like those sitting at street cafe.
